Notting Hill Carnival Ends In Violence, 3 Men Stabbed

Three men were stabbed and police officers were assaulted in a violent conclusion to the Notting Hill Carnival last night.

According to the Metro, more than 260 people were arrested over the course of the two-day annual street party, mostly for drug-related offences and public disorder.

But 15 were arrested for having concealed of offensive weapons, including two machine guns and a handgun.
Just fewer than 160 people were arrested on the last day of the carnival yesterday; including eight held by police after a 29-year-old man was stabbed on the corner of Colville Gardens and Colville Terrace. The man, who has not been named, was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.

A further six men were arrested in connection with another stabbing, and an 18-year-old man was stabbed in Southam Street, Kensington.

One man has been arrested in connection with the Southam Street incident. Police say none of the stabbings resulted in death and at least two of the three incidents were gang related.

Two police officers were assaulted on the corner of Lancaster Road and St Luke’s Road around 3pm yesterday afternoon. A 33-year-old male police officer was taken to hospital after being knocked unconscious in the attack, and a 35-year-old female officer was also injured but was released from hospital later in the evening.
