Police Arrest 2 Nigerians Over Scam

Police have busted an African Scam syndicate with the arrest of two Nigerian men in two raids here last week.

According to the National News Agency of Malaysia, the first suspect aged 26, was nabbed at 9 pm on Aug 19 at the main entrance to Universiti Sains Malaysia, Gelugor here, said Penang Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief ACP Azmi Adam.


Following the arrest, police raided a condominium unit at Taman Terubong Indah, Tingkat Paya Terubong here at 10.30 am on Aug 21, and arrested the second suspect aged 32.

Police also seized various items from the suspects including five mobile phones, two laptops, and ATM and credit cards.

"The men did not possess any travel document," Azmi told a press conference here today.

He said the arrests were based on two reports lodged by an individual who claimed to have been cheated of RM40,000 and RM60,000 through his bank account last June.
