A
25-year-old security man, Jubrin Asli, has been arraigned before an Igbosere
magistrate’s court for allegedly inserting his fingers into the private part of
two minors, both aged three.
The
Vanguard reports that Jubrin, from Chad and residing at Marwa area of Lekki,
Lagos is facing a one-count charge of indecent insertion of finger into the
private parts of two minors.
One of
the children had reported the defendant to her mother after she complained of
having pains in her private part while urinating.
The
prosecutor, Babaji Ishaku, told the court that the defendant committed the
offence on August 2 at about 1pm.
He said
the incident took place at Marwa area of Lekki Phase I, in Eti-Osa Local
Government Area of the state.
The
prosecutor said the defendant, unlawfully and indecently inserted his finger
into the private parts of the two children.
According
to the prosecutor, the offence is punishable under Section 135 (1) of the
Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
Section
135 (1) prescribes seven years imprisonment for offenders.
However,
the defendant pleaded not guilty to the one count charge.
Magistrate
I. O. Omotosho adjourned the matter till August 12 for the defendant’s bail
application.
The
defendant was, however, remanded in Ikoyi prison pending his bail application.
