We’re committed to re-election of Jonathan – APGA

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has restated its commitment to the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan in next month’s general election, Daily Independent reports.

This is even as it stated that the party strongly stands by its endorsement of the President and will campaign everywhere in the few weeks ahead, “to showcase our strong stance with the President.

The party also disassociated itself from comments credited to one Campbell Umeh-Nzekwe, who had in a recent interview declared that the party would not be supporting the President’s re-election bid.

According to a statement on Wednesday in Abuja signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Okwukwe Ibiam, “We, at the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) strongly stand by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

“We dissociate ourselves from any publication or publications associating our great party to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or its representatives in the forthcoming general election.

Ibiam declared that, “the said comments by Mr. Campbell Umeh-Nzekwe, a former contact and mobilisation personnel for APGA in Lagos State, does not, in any way, shape or reflect the opinions of either the National Chairman, the National Working Committee or the convention of our great party.

“We at the All Progressives Grand Alliance view Mr. Umeh-Nzekwe’s comments as flippant and totally misguided.

“We will also like to add that Mr. Campbell Umeh-Nzekwe is not a Special Adviser to the National Chairman, and was never elected to any position of consequence to speak on behalf of the APGA anywhere, or its representatives.
