Pope Francis Condemns Child prostitution

Pope Francis has condemned the "moral decay" of the city of Rome, laying emphasis on the increase in child prostitution in the city.

He said he was all too aware of the under-age prostitutes that line up on the city's streets – just as he discovered 12 year old girls were working as prostitutes in Argentina during his years there as archbishop.

"This hurt me, but even more so, the sight of large cars pulling up driven by old men. They could have been their grandfathers. For me the people who do this to children are paedophiles".

Rome is reeling from a probe into a network of well-to-do Romans accused of paying two school girl prostitutes aged 14 and 15 for sex. Among those investigated was Mauro Floriani, the husband of Alessandra Mussolini, an Italian senator who is also the granddaughter of Benito Mussolini, Italy's late fascist dictator.
