President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday appointed former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Osita Chidoka, as the new Aviation Minister, Daily Independent reports.
The President also appointed former lecturer at the University of Abuja, Abubakar Olanrewaju Suleiman, as Minister of National Planning and Deputy Chairman of the National Planning Commission (NPC).
Jonathan announced the appointments shortly after administering the oath of office on the two men at the Council Chamber of the Aso Rock Villa, where he equally appointed Deputy Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi, to replace Chidoka.
The President tasked the new ministers to bring their “very rich antecedents” to bear on their new assignments while also ensuring they work harmoniously with their Permanent Secretaries.
He told them to liken their new jobs to being substituted into a game of football during injury time in which case they are expected to score last minute goals or make significant impact.
”We expect that you join the team this injury time; we expect you to score goals. Nigerians expect much from you.
“We expect you to bring to bear your wealth of experience and make the difference where you are deployed. I am very hopeful that Nigerians will notice your footprints”, he stated.
