L-R: Before the gun incident and after the gun incident

Richard Lee Norris, the man whose life changed forever in 1997 after half his face was blown off by a shotgun now models for GQ Magazine.

At the age of 22 he was left needing a new tongue, jaw and teeth, as well as extensive facial reconstruction in surgery deemed controversial because it came with a 50 per cent chance of survival.

Now 39 years, Norris talked about the accident, the years of cruel taunts from strangers, battled addiction and contemplated suicide.

He described the whole experience as ‘a living hell’.
