11 Suspected fraudsters Arrested

The Ogun State Police Command on Monday arrested some eleven suspected fraudsters when they stormed their hideout at Ilu Agbon in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government area.

According to the Punch newspaper, it was gathered that the suspects had allegedly defrauded many people of their money and other valuables.

The leader of the syndicate, Akoje Abiola, told the police that he has been in the illicit vocation since 2004.
The command’s public relations officer, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, said it took the policemen who burst the shrine, made of mud, sometime before they uncover the many ritual points and scary objects festooned on different sections.

Adejobi, an assistant superintendent of police, said the command acted based on complaints made by some of the victims at the police headquarters, Eleweran Abeokuta.

However, Abiola denied being a fraudster claiming that “I am an herbalist helping people with various spiritual problems.”

When confronted with fact that he defrauded one of his clients to the tune of N400,000, he merely dismissed it.

He said, “The victim had only paid N400, 000 as mobilisation fee for me to prepare concoction for him on protection from evil spirit so that he could prosper.”

The state Police Commissioner, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, who led the operation, said the suspects would be arraigned in court after the completion of investigation.
