A woman alleged to have punched a baby in the face said she did it because she thought it was a doll.
According to Metro UK, Barbra Green, 59, allegedly went up to the five-month-old boy in a restaurant and punched him in Folly Beach, South Carolina.
The boy’s mother, Amber Forston, described it as ‘an act of stupidty’, according to the Post and Courier.
She said that she had taken the boy to a modelling tryout and wanted to help develop his confidence.
They went into a branch of Snapper Jacks and it was while the boy was playing on his father’s lap that Green allegedly launched her attack.
Mrs Forston added: ‘I said “There’s no way this woman just walked up and punched my child.”
‘I was just in shock. I didn’t know if that was the beginning of a child abduction or what.’
Staff stopped Green from leaving and police turned up to arrest her.
She was released from Charleston County jail on $25,262 bail
