The six men whose bodies were found near a farm in Kraaifontein appear to have been stoned to death, Cape Town police said on Wednesday, AllAfrica reports.
"It looks like they were stoned. There are stones lying around on the scene," Colonel Tembinkosi Kinana said.
Kinana could not say whether or not there were visible injuries on the six men, and on which part of their bodies the possible injuries were.
"But they look like they were assaulted."
He said the stones did not have any visible blood on them.
The men, aged between 18 and 30, were discovered lying face down with their hands tied behind their backs by passers-by in Joostenberg Vlakte around 10am on Tuesday.
They then alerted the police. Six murder cases were opened
