2015 Elections: Police To Follow The Constitution- IG

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Suleiman Abba, has further reiterated that the laws guiding the operations of the Nigeria Police Force in the forthcoming 2015 general elections would solely be drawn from the Nigerian constitution, INEC timetable and lessons learnt from previous elections held in the country.

This was made known yesterday when the IGP received the Commonwealth Election Monitoring Team led by its Adviser and Head of Electoral Support Political Division, Martin Kasirye at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
While welcoming the team, IGP Abba assured the Committee of the Force preparedness through continuous training and re-training of its personnel to ensure a hitch-free general election in 2015, before, during and after.

Earlier, the leader of the team Martin Kasirye while intimating the IGP of an invitation by INEC to the Commonwealth to serve as Observers during the upcoming elections, stated that the purpose of the Committee’s visit is to assess the Force level of preparedness to provide adequate security throughout the election period.
